Chi Gung Classes

Chi Kung is an ancient Chinese form of exercise that helps to promote the body's flow of Chi (or vital energy). Chi Kung translates as 'energy work'.

It includes:

1. Exercises for opening and mobilising the body and joints
2. Breathing techniques
3. Slow movement exercises
4. Walking forms
5. Static postures
6. Meditation

Chi Kung is easy to learn and the movements are simple, often inspired by the forms of animals or nature. Each movement created has an intention of moving Chi within our body. Chi Kung is linked to Acupuncture and Shiatsu as it uses the same conceptual framework of the meridian system (channels) through which energy flows. Chi Kung is also associated with Toaist and Buddhist philosophies and practices.

With regular practice, Chi Kung has physical, mental and emotional benefits. Some of the benefits of practicing Chi Kung regularly are:

    1. Increased energy
    2. Builds physcial strength and stamina
    3. The achievement of inner stillness
    4. Helps to support the body's systems such as the central nervous system, digestive system and immune system
    5. Groundedness
    6. A sense of well-being and clarity

Chi Kung is open to all levels of fitness as you will determine the pace of your class. It is best to wear loose clothing while practising Chi Kung.
