Mindfulness for Stress Reduction
Wednesday lunchtimes for 6 weeks starting on the 22nd September 2010
The mindfulness programme I am offering is a skills based educational programme devised by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre, USA, almost 30 years ago.It is an internationally recognised approach to stress and stress related illness, successfully employed in hospitals, health, business and educational settings as well as to the general population.
Mindfulness is a state of present moment awareness where one is aware of thoughts, emotions and physical sensations as they are happening. It includes the attitudes of non-judgement and acceptance towards ones experience thereby increasing our ability to respond to life situations by making informed choices rather than reacting habitually.
Each moment of our lives is so precious yet many of us spend our time anticipating the future, fearing, planning and worrying, or dwelling in and regretting the past. This is something we do so habitually that we live our lives in automatic pilot, the body doing one thing while the mind is somewhere else. Living like this can lead to feelings of being ‘out of touch’ with ones life, to stress, dissatisfaction, ill health and feelings of loss of control.

The fee for the eight week programme is £250. This includes workbook, 3 CD’s and a full day of mindful practice. Concessions are available, as well as an early bird discount of 10% on full price if booked three weeks prior to course start date. An easy payment scheme is also available. As spaces can be limited it’s important to let us know as soon as possible of your interest. A deposit of £50 is required, refundable up to four weeks prior to your course commencing. We regret we cannot accept Credit Card Payments.
