Beginner's Yoga with Kate Hayes
The word yoga means 'to yoke' and refers to an ancient philosophical and physical system designed to unite body and mind to promote a complete sense of wellbeing. Foundation practices include physical postures (asana), breath work (pranayama) and meditation practices. Through the course of this programme you will be introduced to a broad range of fundamental yoga postures with a focus on healthy and safe alignment principles and building a deeper awareness of your breath. Some fluid (vinyasa) variations will be taught as well as the use of props and equipment for restorative postures and support. Meditation and relaxation techniques will also be explored to deepen and complement the physical practice. Some of the many benefits of yoga practice include improved breathing and posture, increased strength, flexibility and tone as well as a sense of calm and better capacity to deal with stress and challenges of day to day life. The course is suitable for absolute beginners or for those with existing yoga practice who wish to review the fundamentals.
